Kamala Harris has expressed her contemplation about potentially running for President again, as shared today. During a civil rights convention, TV host Rev Al Sharpton inquired about her future plans.
“I am considering it,” she responded. “I’m mulling it over. However, I want to emphasize that I have served for four years in close proximity to the Presidency of the United States. I have spent extensive time in my West Wing office near the Oval Office, as well as in the Oval Office and the Situation Room.”
“I am well aware of the responsibilities of the job. After traveling across the country over the past year, one thing is clear to me – the current state of affairs is ineffective and has been failing many people for a significant period.”
This statement strongly signals her intention to run as the Democratic candidate in the upcoming 2028 Presidential election. Despite her loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 election, where she replaced Joe Biden on the ticket late in the campaign, she remains a prominent figure in national polls compared to other Democratic contenders.
Although bookmakers still view her as an underdog for the 2028 election, she consistently leads in national polls among Democratic candidates, surpassing California Governor Gavin Newsom by more than seven points on average.
In a previous interview with the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg last year, she hinted at the possibility of pursuing a third presidential campaign, stating, “I am not finished. My entire career has been dedicated to serving, and it is ingrained in me.”
