A man aged 51 passed away on a Cathay Pacific flight traveling from Manchester to Hong Kong. The incident occurred during flight CX216, departing Manchester Airport at 11.04am BST on Thursday and arriving at Hong Kong International Airport at 6.53am HKT on Friday (11.53pm BST on Thursday). Hong Kong police were notified by air traffic control around 6.15am that a passenger had collapsed onboard.
An autopsy is currently being conducted to determine the cause of death. The individual, identified as Mr. Chen, was reportedly an insurance broker who had moved to the UK with his family. Diagnosed with cancer last year, he frequently traveled between Hong Kong and the UK for medical appointments and business engagements.
Reports indicate that Mr. Chen informed his wife of feeling unwell during the flight, and she regularly checked on him. Approximately two hours before landing, she noticed he had become unresponsive. The airline spokesperson mentioned that the crew, along with a doctor on the plane, administered immediate first aid to the passenger. Upon landing, an ambulance was called, and paramedics boarded the aircraft.
