“Russia Launches Deadly Assault on Kyiv and Key Ukrainian Cities”

Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched a sustained attack on Kyiv and other cities, targeting ports, industrial areas, and retailers’ distribution centers with missiles and drones. Commuters in the capital witnessed air defense systems engaging drones following an overnight assault that included ballistic missiles and 258 drones. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the attack as massive, hitting various critical infrastructure.

The Ukrainian military successfully intercepted seven ballistic missiles, showcasing improved defense capabilities after receiving a shipment of Patriot interceptors from the United States. Despite this, the limited supply of these interceptors has left Ukraine vulnerable to Russia’s aerial assaults. Russia, which initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, reported retaliatory strikes, including a drone attack on an online retailer’s logistics complex in Ufa.

Support for Ukraine grew, with Britain offering classified technology to aid in the production of cruise missiles. In response, Moscow warned of potential strikes on British military targets if Ukrainian forces used British weaponry against Russian territories. Air-raid sirens blared in Kyiv as attack drones caused injuries, while in Kharkiv, a shopping center attack resulted in one fatality and two injuries.

Additionally, Ukrainian retailers, including COMFY and a leading toy company, reported damage to their distribution centers. Roshen, a prominent chocolate company, also confirmed the destruction of one of its warehouses. Russian strikes extended to industrial sites and energy facilities in various regions, disrupting train services. Furthermore, Moldovan authorities condemned Russian drones crossing into Moldovan airspace, with one drone discovered within Moldova’s territory.
