A powerful tornado wreaked havoc on the village of Pomas in southern France, causing extensive damage to over 300 homes and leaving dozens of people injured. Fortunately, no individuals have been reported missing in the aftermath of the disaster.

According to the Aude prefecture, as of Tuesday morning, around 1,400 households remained without electricity. The tornado was captured swirling above the village of Verzeille, located a few kilometers east of Pomas, in a video shared on social media and verified by Reuters. Many homes in its path suffered shattered windows.

Images obtained from social media and verified by Reuters showed the tornado moving through Preixan, a few kilometers north of Pomas.

In the cleanup efforts following the tornado, a man was pictured amidst the debris of a damaged house in Pomas. The Saint Julien et Sainte Basilisse church also suffered damage, with debris scattered on the floor after its roof collapsed. Fallen trees were seen in a cemetery, and men were observed covering a damaged building’s roof with a tarp in Pomas. Pedestrians navigated past a fallen tree near damaged homes in the area.
