The recent passing of Hayden Panettiere has been determined as accidental, with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office attributing it to the “toxic effects” of a combination of drugs, including fentanyl. Panettiere, renowned for her roles in television series like “Heroes” and “Nashville,” passed away on August 16 at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was staying. Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders found Panettiere in cardiac arrest and their resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
After a collaborative investigation by the Coroner’s Office and the Greenville City Police Department, the official statement confirmed that the cause of death was due to the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine. Quetiapine is a medication used to treat conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, while Alprazolam is prescribed for anxiety and panic disorders. Methocarbamol serves as a muscle relaxant, and 4-ANPP is associated with the production of fentanyl, a potent opioid.
During the autopsy, it was noted that there were no signs of trauma contributing to Panettiere’s death. The coroner’s report also revealed that she had been discharged from a rehabilitation facility in Malibu, California, shortly before her passing. Panettiere, who died just before her 37th birthday, had openly shared her struggles with early fame, addiction, and mental health issues, including postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter in 2014. She had candidly discussed her experiences in interviews and her recent memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning.”
Following her death, tributes poured in from fans and colleagues, with many expressing their condolences and memories of the late actor. Additionally, the news reignited past controversies surrounding skincare brand Neutrogena, which Panettiere had represented as a global brand ambassador for nearly a decade before her daughter’s birth. Allegations were made that the company terminated their association after Panettiere spoke openly about her postpartum depression struggles.
