U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House have recently eliminated certain Taylor Swift songs from their social media posts. The White House and a representative for Swift have not provided immediate comments on this matter.
While Swift has not addressed Trump directly as of late, she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election, Swift expressed on social media her lack of support for Trump as president.
Trump has been critical of Swift, especially after her endorsement of Harris. He has publicly expressed his dislike for Swift on social media platforms. Various artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also urged the Trump administration not to use their music.
The Trump campaign utilized two of Swift’s songs on TikTok in the past week. One video made a reference to Swift’s popular songs, such as “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).” In June, another video featured Swift’s new song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from the fictitious movie “Toy Story 5,” with a caption praising Trump’s love for the country and its people.
This is not the first time the Trump administration has used Swift’s music. In a video posted in April, Swift’s song “High Infidelity” was included, and in another video from November, her song “The Fate of Ophelia” was featured.
The use of Swift’s songs by the Trump administration has sparked significant reactions on social media, with a White House spokesperson justifying the videos as a way to garner media attention. The Trump communication team frequently pairs popular songs with images related to various political events.
