Samsung has introduced its latest lineup of innovative foldable smartphones, potentially posing a challenge for Apple.
The tech giant from Korea has revealed three new devices, prominently featuring the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Unlike previous Fold models, the new design of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a shorter, wider “passport-style” approach, offering a unique and practical shape when unfolded.
The device boasts a spacious 7.6-inch display, resembling a compact tablet more than a smartphone, catering to activities like streaming, binge-watching, and gaming on the move.
This launch holds significance as Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone soon, with speculations pointing towards a similar radical design. Samsung’s early move could give it an edge over its rival.
Apart from the design, Samsung is also advancing in other aspects with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 being the thinnest and lightest Fold model yet, weighing just 180g. It features an enhanced hinge for improved durability and longevity.
The device’s larger display incorporates Vision Booster technology and an anti-reflective coating for better visibility under bright sunlight.
Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a 4,800mAh battery, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 can charge up to 63% in 30 minutes from empty.
Equipped with a dual-camera system, Gorilla Glass protection, and the latest Galaxy AI tools for enhanced functionality, the device is priced starting from £1,699, available for pre-order now.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, another new addition, resembles the previous Fold 7 in design but receives significant upgrades such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and a notable camera enhancement.
Featuring a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto camera, the new Fold 8 Ultra promises improved low-light photography and 8K video recording capabilities.
Enhancements in the hinge, display structure, and battery life, now at 5,000mAh, further elevate the user experience. Priced from £1,899, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra offers premium features.
Completing the trio is the Galaxy Z Flip 8, maintaining Samsung’s popular clamshell design while becoming thinner and lighter. The device showcases improvements in the external cover display, hinge strength, performance speed, and camera capabilities.
Available from £1,149, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 offers a sleek and updated experience for users.
Samsung’s latest foldable phone offerings present a strong challenge to competitors, with advanced features and sleek designs catering to the evolving smartphone market demands.
