Police apprehended a man accused of sexually assaulting a female British tourist and violently robbing an elderly British couple on the same day in Tenerife. The suspect reportedly used a martial arts technique known as a rear naked choke on the woman, leaving her partially unconscious before stealing her phone. Subsequently, the same day, the suspect allegedly attacked an 89-year-old man and his 79-year-old wife, causing them to be hospitalized due to the assault.
Additionally, the suspect was connected to another incident involving a Swedish tourist who was forcefully grabbed by the neck and had her necklace forcibly removed. The Spanish National Police announced the arrest, noting the suspect’s involvement in a sexual assault and two violent robberies in Tenerife’s southern region.
The initial assault occurred in late March in Las Veronicas, Playa de las Américas, where the victim reported the incident to the police and provided crucial images of the suspect captured that night. Concurrently, authorities were investigating two separate violent robbery cases in Arona municipality, both matching the suspect’s description and the level of aggression displayed.
In one robbery, the suspect attempted to steal a man’s watch, leading to a physical altercation that ended with the watch discarded by the man’s wife to prevent theft, triggering a violent response from the assailant. Following a scuffle, the attacker seized their shopping bag. A witness captured a photo of the suspect, aiding in the arrest on March 27.
