“Greggs Unveils Chicken Roll & Pop-Up VHS Store”

Greggs is set to introduce a new permanent menu item, a chicken version of its renowned sausage roll. The bakery describes the chicken roll as “seasoned chicken enveloped in layers of crispy, golden, glazed puff pastry.” Priced at £1.35, the chicken roll will be available starting Thursday, following the success of Greggs’ classic sausage roll and its vegan option.

To give fans a sneak peek, Greggs is hosting a pop-up VHS store at 15 Bateman Street in London on Wednesday from 3.30pm to 9pm. The pop-up will showcase a secret entrance decorated with VHS tapes featuring roll-themed titles such as Lord of the Rolls and The Devil Wears Pastry.

Customers interested in trying the new chicken roll must attend in groups of three, reflecting the variety of sausage roll products now offered. Additionally, the store will be serving complimentary chicken-themed cocktails and mocktails. A Greggs spokesperson expressed excitement about the launch, stating, “We’ve given our ‘new chick on the block’ the ultimate A-list treatment to ensure it’s a hit nationwide.”

In other news, Greggs will be introducing a big breakfast wrap in select Yorkshire stores, featuring sausage, bacon, cheesy omelette, and a hash brown. The breakfast wrap is available before 11am as part of a trial. The company also plans to introduce vending machines for its pastry snacks, exploring automated and manual vending solutions.

Despite a 17.9% decline in pre-tax profits in the past year, Greggs remains optimistic about its expansion plans. The company aims to reach over 3,000 UK locations in the long term, with a current count of 2,739 stores. While facing criticism for price increases, Greggs stated that there are no immediate plans for further price hikes this year.
