“Teen’s Silent Cry for Help Saves Her from Alleged Kidnapping”

A 16-year-old girl in Michigan was rescued from an alleged kidnapping after silently signaling for help to a gas station attendant. The incident occurred when the girl was waiting at a bus stop in Hamtramck and was forcibly taken into a van at gunpoint by the suspect, Donald Fields. Another student who witnessed the event immediately alerted the authorities as Fields drove away with the girl.

Prosecutors stated that the suspect sexually assaulted the girl in the van before stopping at a gas station. The police, informed by students who tracked the girl’s location, quickly located her at the station.

Upon entering the gas station, Fields asked the girl to purchase cigarettes for him. Sensing something amiss, the attentive attendant, Abdulrahman Abohatem, noticed the girl silently mouthing ‘help’ and intervened, ensuring her safety.

Fields was apprehended by responding officers as he exited the store. He faces charges including criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, assault, and firearm offenses. Despite his criminal history, Fields pleaded not guilty during his arraignment and is currently held without bond, scheduled for a court appearance on April 30.

Prosecutors commended the girl’s quick thinking and courage in the face of danger, emphasizing the importance of seeking justice for the survivor.
