UK households using Freeview for TV must ensure their equipment is updated due to recent channel changes. Freeview has advised users to retune their devices to accommodate the alterations, which involve channel renaming and repositioning in the TV guide. While not a significant overhaul, a quick retune will guarantee that TVs are current.
Freeview has officially announced that on May 20th, 2026, certain broadcasters will implement modifications to their channels. To maintain updated TV channels and the TV Guide, users are required to retune their devices.
Among the changes, two channels have been renamed: Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now known as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1. Additionally, there are adjustments to channel numbers, with Great! Movies moving from channel 61 to channel 62, and Great! TV +1 occupying channel 61.
Freeview stated, “Channel adjustments are ongoing, with channel providers making decisions to relocate, add, or remove channels. Freeview ensures a diverse content offering for viewers.”
If the updates are not reflected on your TV, manual retuning may be required. To retune your TV, follow these steps:
– Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote.
– Select “set-up”, “installation”, “update”, or similar.

– Choose “first-time installation”, “factory reset”, “full retune”, or “default settings”.
– Confirm deletion of existing channels if prompted by pressing “OK”.
– The retune process will commence automatically.
– Save any channels found during the scan if prompted.
