“Disqualified Giant Pumpkin Still a Massive Hit”

A massive pumpkin grown by Jeff Warner from Ontario weighed 1,711 pounds and was on its way to potentially win a top prize at Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin. However, Warner was disqualified from the competition due to a small soft spot on the pumpkin, which violated the strict entry rules.

Despite knowing about the spot and the risks it posed, Warner decided to participate in the event with his giant pumpkin. During the journey to the fair, Warner attempted to salvage the pumpkin by scraping away at the soft spot, but it continued to deteriorate.

Upon arrival at the festival, a judge confirmed that the hole caused by the soft spot exceeded the allowable size for qualification, leading to Warner’s disqualification. The winning pumpkin weighed 1,542 pounds, falling short of Warner’s massive entry.

Despite the setback, Warner expressed no regrets about the time and effort he dedicated to nurturing his giant pumpkins every year. His giant pumpkin continues to attract attention, with families stopping by to admire and take photos with it.

Warner plans to transport the pumpkin north to a polar habitat where it will serve as food for polar bears, giving his colossal creation a second purpose after the competition.
