“Tim Peake Witnesses Spitfire90 Tour Finale”

Tim Peake observes the final flight of the iconic Spitfire commemorating its 90th anniversary. The British astronaut witnessed the conclusion of the Spitfire90 tour as the legendary aircraft soared from Exeter to Southampton. Peake, a former Army Air Corps officer, had a front-row view of this historic event from a WWII-era C-47 Dakota aircraft.

The final flight of the nine-day Spitfire90 tour was not just a simple flypast but a poignant tribute to the Spitfire’s significant contribution to the nation’s history and a celebration of the RAF’s illustrious past. This event has successfully raised over £100,000 for RAF charities, supporting the well-being of military personnel, veterans, and their families, as well as offering aviation opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

The aircraft, adorned in the original colors of the prototype K5054, marked the 90th anniversary of the iconic Spitfire. Tim Peake looked on as the Spitfire passed by the C-47 Dakota WWII-era transport plane, on which he was a passenger during the memorable flight. Peake had a firsthand experience of the commemorative flights as they took to the skies for the final time.
