“Samsung Users Report Screen Flickering Issue in Gmail App”

Users of various devices, including Samsung models, have encountered disruptive screen flickering issues while using the Gmail app, causing difficulty in reading emails and sending messages. Some individuals have reported instances where text disappears entirely, while others have described seeing only blank white boxes in place of their messages.

Expressing their frustration, Gmail enthusiasts have taken to social media platforms to voice their concerns. One user, identified as Jeremiah, tweeted to Gmail, expressing dissatisfaction with the malfunction on his Samsung Fold folding phone and demanding a resolution to the ongoing flickering problem affecting the inner screen.

Similar complaints have surfaced on Google’s support forums, with one user detailing the challenges faced when trying to read emails due to screen flickering, despite attempting various troubleshooting steps such as force-stopping the app, clearing the cache, restarting the tablet, and ensuring all updates are in place.

Google product expert Kimiya Kitani has attributed the issue to Android System WebView, a vital component enabling apps to showcase web content within the application interface. Kitani acknowledged that certain devices, particularly Samsung tablets, are encountering intermittent problems associated with Android System WebView, with the matter already escalated to Google for resolution.

While the exact number of impacted users remains uncertain, reports indicate that Samsung foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets are among the most affected devices. As a temporary solution, Kitani recommends rotating the device as a workaround to mitigate the flickering issue temporarily.

The suggested fix involves opening the email in portrait mode, rotating the device to landscape orientation until the screen stabilizes, and then reverting back to portrait mode for normal display. This workaround serves as a quick solution while awaiting a permanent fix from Google.
