BT Broadband customers in the UK are in for a pleasant surprise as BT Mobile is set to make a comeback in the market. Despite halting new customer sign-ups in 2023 to focus on the EE network brand, BT is now shifting gears. Existing broadband customers will soon have access to BT-branded SIM deals once again.
The move signifies BT’s commitment to reinforcing its well-established brand presence, which had taken a back seat to EE in recent years. With CEO Allison Kirkby at the helm since 2024, the company aims to revitalize its standing among UK households, preventing its brand from fading into obscurity.
Kirkby emphasized the company’s substantial investments in networks and announced plans to further enhance its brands, products, and services during an event at Wembley. This relaunch will position BT in direct competition with major providers like Vodafone and O2, along with budget-friendly networks such as Tesco Mobile and SMARTY.
While specific pricing details are yet to be disclosed, BT intends to offer bundled packages encompassing broadband, landline, and mobile SIM services on a single monthly bill. Industry analyst Paolo Pescatore views this move as an effort to stay competitive in the evolving telecoms landscape, focusing on factors beyond mere coverage, such as resilience, scale, and trust.
Moreover, BT revealed its partnership as the official telecoms sponsor for the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament hosted across Britain and Ireland. Pescatore highlighted the significance of this deal, indicating that it serves as a platform to showcase BT’s scale, relevance, and service delivery to users, households, and businesses.
