‘Wolf Pack’ Gang Receives 73+ Years for Assault

A group of men known as the ‘wolf pack’ gang assaulted a British teenager in Magaluf, shouting offensive remarks, including an eight-word insult, during a horrifying 30-minute attack in a hotel room. The attackers, comprising seven French men and one Swiss national, received prison sentences totaling over 73 years before the trial commenced this week.

The incident, which occurred at the BH Mallorca Resort on August 14, 2023, left the British victim in a state of unconsciousness as she was subjected to the assault, which was recorded and shared on Snapchat. Five of the perpetrators, aged between 18 and 26 at the time of arrest, were sentenced to eleven or nine years in prison for sexually penetrating the victim, while one received a four-year sentence for a non-penetrative sexual assault.

The attackers, who admitted to filming the gang rape, included acts of oral penetration, rape, spitting, hitting, and whipping the victim. The assault was witnessed by two individuals who did not participate actively in the attack. The attackers, who faced lengthy prison terms if convicted, opted to plead guilty under a plea agreement that detailed their actions of recording and sharing the victim’s ordeal without her consent.

The men’s recordings, which were crucial in their apprehension and subsequent prosecution, depicted the assault and were used as evidence against them. The indictment revealed the brutality of the assault, including multiple instances of rape, degradation, and violence. The convicted men received varying prison sentences based on their level of involvement in the assault and recording of the incident.

Despite being granted bail before the trial, some of the men are currently serving prison sentences, while others are expected to be deported from Spain after serving part of their jail time. The possibility of deportation after six or seven years is being considered, although prosecutors are likely to push for the full completion of their sentences.
