“Winter Wonderland Tragedy: Man Found Hanging in Ice Rink”

A man was discovered hanging at an ice rink within a Winter Wonderland setting.

Kyle Samuel, aged 29, was found at Winter Wonderland Stoke in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, at 9 a.m. on November 11. Following the discovery, he was transferred to Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he later passed away on the same morning, as detailed in an inquest. Mr. Samuel, who was both a resident and employee at the attraction, was scheduled for a court appearance on charges related to inappropriate images of children on that day, according to a report by Stoke-on-Trent Live.

Coroner Daniel Howe concluded the case with a verdict of suicide, attributing Mr. Samuel’s death to hypoxia resulting from hanging. The coroner remarked, “He had a history of depression and had previously discussed thoughts of suicide. The immediate trigger was the impending court case set for that day.

“Kyle made attempts to reach out to friends and family members the night before he was found deceased. Based on the evidence presented, I am convinced that Kyle had the intention to take his own life by hanging, given his recent anxiety and concern over the upcoming legal proceedings.”

In a statement provided by Kyle’s mother, she recounted, “Kyle called me on November 10, informing me that he would leave Hanley at 7 a.m., with an estimated arrival time around 8:30 a.m. He appeared cheerful during our conversation and expressed his love as he usually did.

“However, I later learned that he had also tried to contact his grandmother and some friends that night, which I believe was an indication of his plan to end his life the following day.

“Kyle was deeply committed to his career in the circus industry, a field he was passionate about since his youth. He performed as a clown in a circus for many years, cherishing his work. Yet, this masked his true emotions regarding his mental well-being from others.

“He was a beloved, kind-hearted, and caring individual. His loss will be profoundly felt by all who knew and loved him.”
