A beloved television personality from the show Will & Grace has passed away at the age of 60 in Memphis after battling cancer. Actor Corey Parker, known for his role as Josh in the popular US sitcom, was confirmed deceased by his aunt, Emily Parker.
Apart from his acting career, Corey also served as an acting coach and had a recurring part in Will & Grace as Grace Adler’s boyfriend. He appeared in various TV shows and movies, including the BBC’s Lost Language of Cranes and the sitcom Flying Blind alongside Tea Leoni.
Growing up in a creative environment, Corey’s mother Rocky Parker and his sister Noelle were both involved in the acting industry. Following a diagnosis of advanced stage 4 metastatic cancer and losing his medical insurance eligibility, Corey’s friends and students initiated a GoFundMe campaign, raising over $57,000 (£42,000) to assist with his medical expenses.
Describing Corey as a unique artist and teacher, the campaign highlighted his inability to work due to extreme pain. His family faces financial challenges from paying for medical bills while supporting Corey through his health battle.
Corey’s early acting roles included parts in horror films like Friday the 13th Part V and later in the film 9 and a Half Weeks with Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke. Transitioning into coaching young actors, he contributed to the Marvel series Ms. Marvel, a story about a teenager with newfound powers inspired by the Avengers.
