Walkers, a leading crisp manufacturer, has initiated a recall of its crisps due to a potential allergen issue. The company is recalling Walkers Hot Honey Crisps 6 packs because some packets may mistakenly contain Mild Cheese and Onion seasoning, which contains milk – an allergen not listed on the packaging.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a warning, advising customers to return the affected crisps for a refund. The agency highlighted that the presence of milk in the product could pose a health risk to individuals with milk allergies or intolerances.
The specific product being recalled is the Walkers Hot Honey Crisps 6 pack, with a batch code of GBB 584 031 and a best before date of May 16, 2026.
Additionally, the FSA informed that Walkers is taking steps to recall the product from customers and has reached out to allergy support organizations to inform their members about the issue. The company has also distributed point-of-sale notices to explain the reason for the recall and provide guidance to customers who have purchased the product.
Consumers with milk allergies are urged not to consume the affected product. Instead, they are advised to contact the Consumer Care Line at 0800 274 777 or visit contact.pepsico.com/walkers for a full refund.
The FSA clarified the process of food alerts, emphasizing that products may be withdrawn or recalled if there are risks related to allergen information. In cases where there is a potential food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert to ensure consumer safety.
