Vernon Kay expressed surprise when his BBC Radio 2 co-worker made a direct comment about his appearance. The 51-year-old host, who took over the mid-morning slot from Ken Bruce in 2023, has a long history in radio, previously working at BBC Radio 1 and Radio X.
Recently, Vernon has embraced his natural aging process, showcasing his gray hair. During a live broadcast, he recounted an incident where his colleague, Janine Maya-Smith, pointed out his resemblance to his father in his posture, leaving him questioning the comment’s fairness.
On another occasion during his show, a listener shared a humorous anecdote about her mother failing a driving test in 1983 for not wearing a seatbelt, just days after the law came into effect. Vernon was shocked by the story and expressed his frustration at the examiner’s approach.
Vernon also shared a light-hearted story about his own driving test experience, highlighting the challenges he faced during rush hour in Bolton. Recently, his haircut became a topic of discussion, with comparisons being made to Professor Brian Cox, to which Vernon humorously responded with his thoughts on the resemblance.
Discussing his decision to embrace his natural hair color, Vernon mentioned that he no longer dyes his hair and prefers to let it go gray without any blending.
