“UK Minister Denies Iran Targeting Amid Missile Threats”

A high-ranking government official has emphasized that there is no evidence suggesting that Iran is specifically targeting the United Kingdom. This statement comes in response to Israel’s alert about Iran possessing long-range missiles capable of reaching major cities in Europe, following an incident where Iran targeted the US-UK base Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, approximately 3,800km away.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) shared on X platform that the Iranian regime had fired a long-range missile with a range of about 4,000 km, raising concerns about its potential threat to various countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Despite Iranian denials, the IDF reiterated that the Iranian regime poses a global danger, now possessing missiles capable of reaching cities like London, Paris, or Berlin.

However, Cabinet minister Steve Reed stated in an interview with the BBC that there is no specific intelligence indicating Iran’s intention to target the UK, emphasizing the UK’s military strength in safeguarding the nation and its interests both domestically and abroad. He dismissed claims of Iran targeting Europe, highlighting the UK’s military readiness to defend against any potential threats.

Addressing concerns about fuel rationing amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Mr. Reed assured the public that there is currently no need for fuel rationing. He reassured that people should continue purchasing fuel as usual, with the government having contingency plans in place if circumstances change. Mr. Reed mentioned previous interventions to stabilize heating oil prices to prevent excessive bill increases for consumers, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting the public during challenging times.
