UK Government Reveals Bank Holidays Until 2026

The UK Government has officially confirmed all bank holidays across the country until the end of 2026.

Each nation in the UK typically has its own set of bank holiday dates. For instance, during the upcoming Easter weekend, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland will observe bank holidays on Good Friday, April 3, and Easter Monday, April 6. In contrast, Scotland only recognizes Good Friday as a bank holiday and does not observe Easter Monday. The government has released the remaining bank holiday dates for the year via X, previously known as Twitter.

Confirmed posts indicate that nationwide bank holidays will occur on Good Friday, May 4, and May 25. Additionally, all UK regions will have bank holidays on Christmas Day, December 25, and Monday, December 28 (substituting for Boxing Day, which falls on a Saturday this year).

In Northern Ireland, the Battle of the Boyne bank holiday is on Monday, July 13, while Scotland celebrates the Summer bank holiday on Monday, August 3. England, Wales, and Northern Ireland will observe the Summer bank holiday on Monday, August 25.

Scotland will have a bank holiday on Monday, November 30, for St Andrew’s Day. Furthermore, an extra bank holiday was announced in Scotland to celebrate the men’s football team qualifying for the FIFA World Cup after 28 years.

Buckingham Palace declared that Monday, June 15, 2026, will be a bank holiday in Scotland to commemorate the achievement of the men’s football team. This decision was made in accordance with the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971.

The specific bank holiday dates for England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland have been officially confirmed.
