The United Kingdom is bracing for a sudden shift back to wintry weather, as a snow warning has been issued shortly after the start of spring. Following a brief period of warm temperatures reaching the high teens and even 20C in some regions, the country is now facing a significant drop in temperature expected to bring snow and cold conditions.
Despite the recent warm spell, temperatures are set to decline beginning on Sunday, with single-digit temperatures forecasted by Wednesday. The Met Office anticipates below-average temperatures with frequent showers and gusty winds in the coming days. Meteorologist Alex Deakin highlighted the upcoming “cold plunge,” noting the possibility of snow in Scotland, which saw its warmest day of the year last Friday.
The sudden temperature drop is expected to come as a shock to many Scots who enjoyed the unseasonably fine weather last week. Snow showers are likely over the hills in Scotland, with the weather gradually improving towards the end of the week but remaining cool with the potential for overnight frost. While flurries are expected over parts of Scotland and the east coast of England, temperatures are not likely to dip below zero, hovering in the low single digits.
Temperatures in England are forecasted to range between 1C to 2C, occasionally dropping as low as -1C, while Scotland will experience colder temperatures, reaching as low as -5C in the highlands and northern regions.
