Despite the recent sunny weather, snow is expected to hit the UK again in the coming days, as per new weather maps. While many enjoyed sunshine over the weekend, the warmth is not here to stay.
Forecast maps from WXCHARTS reveal a return to colder temperatures. Aberdeen is predicted to see snow by Monday, March 23, marking the start of the wintry conditions.
On Tuesday, March 24, snow is forecasted to affect western regions of the UK, including parts of Scotland, Blackpool, and Wales. By Wednesday, March 25, the snow is expected to move towards the east and south, reaching cities like Plymouth and Norwich.
The bulk of the snowfall is anticipated in Scotland and the northern coasts of England. Purple areas on the maps indicate where snow is likely to occur along the coastlines.
By Wednesday morning, significant snow is expected in northern Scotland, with areas above Dundee set to be covered. Wales, particularly the west coast, will also see substantial snowfall extending towards Cardiff.
In England, Cumbria, Manchester, and Stoke-on-Trent are slated for snow. By evening, the east coast, from Newcastle to Ipswich, is expected to experience snow. The south and Midlands are likely to remain dry with sporadic rain and snow showers. Northern Ireland should mostly escape the cold, with only a small snow patch around Derry. Gairloch, Scotland, is projected to receive the heaviest snowfall at around 14cm.
The Met Office’s five-day forecast mentions cloudy and breezy conditions in the north tonight, with fog patches elsewhere. Scotland and Northern Ireland may experience rain, especially in the north and west, while England and Wales are expected to have clear skies with frost and fog forming.
For Sunday, patchy rain will move southeast across the UK, with sunny spells developing in southern England after some fog clears. Colder weather will arrive in the northwest with showers.
Looking ahead to Monday to Wednesday, the forecast indicates wet and windy conditions in the north on Monday, with brighter spells elsewhere. Rain will clear out on Tuesday, followed by cold and windy weather midweek with sunshine and wintry showers.
