At least 13 cities in the United Kingdom are expected to see snowfall during a 471-mile blizzard this week, according to weather forecasters. The Mirror has revealed the full list of these cities as new data indicates that a significant part of the UK will experience cold conditions conducive to snow starting from Friday. Weather projections from WXCharts show that areas spanning from Wick, Scotland, to Manchester will be blanketed in snow during the peak of the blizzard. Various regions in Scotland, including Wick, Inverness, Fort William, Aberdeen, Dundee, and Glasgow, are likely to witness snow showers based on the maps.
The cold spell will gradually extend across the country, with many parts of England expected to face chilly temperatures. The maps suggest that areas near Dundee in Scotland could receive up to 39cm (15 inches) of snow.
The Met Office’s extended forecast from March 14 to 23 indicates changeable weather patterns with Atlantic systems bringing rain, heavy showers mainly in the west or northwest, and potential strong winds. Temperatures are forecasted to be around average, with intermittent colder periods bringing frost and hill snow.
The Express reports that temperatures in the upcoming week could feel as cold as -7°C due to a bitter westerly wind. Jason Kelly, Chief Operational Meteorologist for the Met Office, mentioned that a shift in wind direction towards a north-westerly flow will result in significantly colder conditions nationwide on Friday, with the possibility of sunny spells, heavy showers, coastal gales, and snow on high ground. Accumulations of snow are also possible on lower hills. Further updates on the weather conditions are expected as the week progresses.
