At least 10 police vehicles and an air ambulance responded to a bustling street following a two-vehicle collision that resulted in a person being rushed to the hospital.
Specialist paramedics were summoned to West Denton Way in Newcastle, where a significant portion of the road was sealed off by law enforcement. The closure was initiated after a crash involving two vehicles occurred just before 5 pm, as confirmed by Northumbria Police.
A patient was swiftly transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle for medical attention. “We were alerted at 4:35 pm on Sunday, March 15th, regarding a road traffic incident on Northumbria Walk, Newcastle,” stated the North East Ambulance Service.
“We dispatched an ambulance crew, a specialist paramedic, and an advanced paramedic practitioner to the scene. One patient was transferred to the RVI for further care.”
A spokesperson from Northumbria Police stated, “Shortly before 5 pm today (Sunday), we were informed of a two-vehicle collision in the Northumbria Walk area of West Denton.”
“Emergency services are currently present, and the road is closed. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes if possible.”
