“Trump Surprised by UK Delay in Allowing Base Use”

Donald Trump expressed surprise at the delayed approval from Keir Starmer to use British air bases for strategic strikes in the Strait of Hormuz. During his journey to Palm Beach, Florida, Trump remarked on the tardiness of the UK’s response despite their strong relationship, emphasizing it as an unprecedented occurrence. He also criticized the UK for hesitating to allow the use of designated bases.

Acknowledging his conversation with Keir Starmer, Trump voiced his astonishment at the UK’s slow action, suggesting they should have acted more promptly. When questioned about potential U.S. military actions targeting Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf, crucial to Iran’s oil operations, Trump remained ambiguous about any specific plans, stating it was a topic of discussion but refraining from disclosure.

Earlier, Trump had condemned NATO allies as “cowards” for not actively participating in securing the vital Strait of Hormuz. Subsequently, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer granted permission for U.S. forces to utilize UK bases for defensive operations following Iran’s military activities in the region.

Under the agreement, U.S. armed forces could target Iran’s missile assets from these bases. Trump asserted that Iran’s military capabilities were diminished but highlighted their disruption of the Strait of Hormuz. He proposed a coordinated effort involving ships and resources to ensure the smooth operation of the shipping lane, suggesting the involvement of countries reliant on the strait for trade.

Responding to queries regarding Iran’s execution of individuals involved in anti-government protests, Trump condemned the actions as “terrible,” denouncing the perpetrators as “thugs and animals.” He expressed concern over the harsh treatment of protesters by Iranian authorities, emphasizing the severity of the situation.
