President Trump has suggested that Iran possesses Tomahawk missiles, following an incident where a cruise missile reportedly struck a girls’ school in southern Iran. The President stated that he is willing to accept the findings of an investigation into the tragedy.
Recent footage indicates a Tomahawk missile, believed to be American, hitting a compound in southern Iran near the school where over 165 individuals lost their lives at the onset of the conflict in the Middle East. Trump’s comments came amid growing evidence linking the U.S. military to the strike on the school near a Revolutionary Guard base in Minab, Iran’s Hormozgan Province.
During a press briefing in Florida, Trump initially claimed he had not seen the incident when asked about U.S. responsibility. He later mentioned that countries like Iran also possess Tomahawk missiles, emphasizing their widespread use and availability globally.
Responding to queries about his unique assertion regarding Iran’s possession of Tomahawks, Trump cited his limited knowledge on the matter, reiterating that Tomahawks are utilized by various nations. He expressed readiness to accept the investigation’s outcome, regardless of the findings.
Although the Tomahawk missile is manufactured by U.S. defense contractor Raytheon and distributed to allies, there is no public evidence confirming Iran’s operation of this weapon. A U.S. official familiar with internal discussions indicated that the strike likely originated from American forces. New footage, reviewed by investigative experts, captured the missile strike on the school and was shared by Iran’s semiofficial Mehr news agency.
The video footage, corroborated by satellite imagery, illustrates the missile hitting a building adjacent to the school, generating a plume of smoke. The U.S. Central Command acknowledged the use of Tomahawk missiles in the conflict and released a photo showing the USS Spruance, part of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier group within proximity of the school, launching a Tomahawk missile on February 28.
