“Trump Issues Warning on Iran Amid Military Action Controversy”

President Trump issued a warning regarding the situation in Iran, hinting at ongoing developments while avoiding addressing a question about US military actions that resulted in casualties, including at a girls’ school. He fielded inquiries as he left for Ohio for a factory tour prior to a scheduled speech in Kentucky later in the day.

This follows a period of uncertainty surrounding the reasons behind the US strike on Iran, as well as differing viewpoints within the Trump administration regarding the timing and objectives of the military action.

When asked about his criteria for declaring success in Iran, Trump cryptically responded, suggesting that the current situation needed to persist for further assessment. Additionally, he was questioned about the safety of commercial tankers passing through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for oil and gas transportation. Despite pressure due to rising domestic energy prices linked to the conflict, Trump expressed his belief that tankers should continue using the route, noting the elimination of Iranian naval mines in a single operation.

While pressed on whether Iran had mined the Strait, Trump indicated uncertainty. He declined to comment on potential victory scenarios involving Mojtaba Khamenei assuming the leadership role in Iran. Moreover, he sidestepped a query about a specific strike that targeted a school, causing significant casualties, citing lack of knowledge about the investigation results that attributed the incident to a US military error in targeting.
