“Tragic Suicide of 12-Year-Old Amid Snapchat Bullying”

A 12-year-old girl, Amelia Bath, was tragically discovered dead in her bedroom, sparking fears that she may have taken her own life due to bullying on Snapchat. Amelia’s mother, Marie, found her lifeless body when she went to wake her up for school on the morning of March 6.

According to Amelia’s family, the evening before her death was spent joyfully at her grandparents’ house, sharing laughter over a meal of fish and chips. However, after the police investigated and seized Amelia’s phone and iPad, they uncovered messages on Snapchat indicating that she was being cyberbullied.

Amelia, a student at The Regis School in Bognor Regis, is survived by her parents, Marie and Steve Bath, and her older sister Olivia. Her uncle, Kris Marsh, expressed shock at the revelation of the bullying messages, emphasizing that Amelia had always appeared happy and popular. The family is now advocating for awareness about the dangers of cyberbullying and urging children to seek help when facing difficulties.

A fundraising campaign initiated by Amelia’s aunt, Lisa, has raised over £15,000 for her funeral expenses and for donations to a children’s hospice care charity. Described as a cheerful and beloved girl, Amelia’s sudden death has left her family and community devastated.

Authorities from Sussex Police responded to the incident at the family’s residence in Walberton, expressing condolences to the girl’s family and providing support services for those affected by the tragedy. The death is not considered suspicious, and the case has been referred to the coroner for further investigation.
