A tragic incident occurred in São Sebastião, Brazil, where a 26-year-old mother of two, Renata Yassu Nakama, lost her life after falling from a moving bus when a window suddenly gave way. The unfortunate event took place on January 2, but the footage of the incident was only made public on March 10.
Renata was standing on the crowded bus, leaning against a window, when the window frame became loose and detached while the bus was navigating a turn. She fell from the vehicle, sustaining a head injury. Despite initial assistance from passengers and being taken to the hospital, Renata succumbed to her injuries three days later.
Her grieving family, including her father Sérgio Yassu Nakama, is now tasked with caring for the two children she left behind. Sérgio has appealed to the local council and the public transport company, Sancetur, for support in providing psychological assistance for the children, highlighting the financial challenges they face.
A court ruling in February mandated the council and Sancetur to provide a monthly allowance equivalent to 2.4 minimum wages to the family. However, there are reported delays in the enforcement of the order, with Sancetur claiming to have deposited the payment with the court.
While the bus driver mentioned that Renata was in a non-passenger area of the bus and that the bus was within its passenger capacity limit, the family’s lawyer, Gabriella Prado, contends that the driver failed to prevent Renata from accessing the area, leading to the structural failure that caused her ejection.
The circumstances surrounding the tragic incident are currently under investigation to determine further details.
