A tragic incident occurred at a shopping center in Dublin this morning, where a three-year-old boy was struck by a car in the car park. Despite immediate response from emergency services and being rushed to Temple Street hospital, the child succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later on. Gardai confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement released this evening and have assigned a family liaison officer to support the grieving relatives.
The incident took place at Charlestown Shopping Centre’s underground car park. Authorities are conducting a technical examination at the scene, with investigations ongoing. Gardai are urging any witnesses or individuals with camera footage from the vicinity between 8:20am and 9:00am to come forward and assist in the investigation.
At present, officers are present at the car park, maintaining a presence near the specific area of the accident. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are actively examining the site while normal activities continue in the vicinity, which is located near a Dunnes Stores and an Odeon cinema complex.
