“Tesco Trials Parcel Lockers for Convenient Shopping”

Tesco has introduced a new service for shoppers, designed to simplify errand running tasks. The initiative, currently undergoing a six-month trial in a limited number of Tesco stores in partnership with Royal Mail, offers 24/7 lockers equipped with label printing and QR code services. This innovation aims to facilitate parcel collection and delivery, especially for customers without access to home label printing capabilities.

To utilize the lockers, customers must first pay for postage online and receive a QR code, which they can then use to access the locker. Alternatively, they can request a QR code from the parcel recipient company. In addition to the existing 2,600 Royal Mail lockers across the UK, the introduction of nine new lockers at Tesco stores will provide shoppers with the convenience of combining their grocery shopping with parcel drop-off and collection services.

Jack Clarkson, Managing Director for Out-of-Home & Commercial Excellence at Royal Mail, expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting the company’s commitment to enhancing parcel collection options. The move aligns with Royal Mail’s goal to expand its parcel points to 45,000 by 2030.

A Tesco spokesperson welcomed the introduction of Royal Mail lockers in select stores, emphasizing the convenience it brings to customers. The partnership with Royal Mail, alongside the existing locker partner InPost, aims to offer customers more accessible options for parcel management during their shopping trips.

In a related development, a Tesco Clubcard Plus subscriber shared her positive experience with the subscription-based service, launched in the UK in November 2019. Priced at £7.99 per month, Tesco Clubcard Plus provides benefits such as 10% discounts on two “big shops” monthly and selected areas in the store. The subscriber, pleased with the cost savings, highlighted the value of the service and its impact on her shopping habits.
