The discovery of a teenage girl’s body occurred during a river search by police divers following a car submersion incident involving teenagers. Cambridgeshire Police mentioned that a car carrying five individuals, aged 16 to 18, including two males and three females, plunged into a river the previous night. While three occupants escaped the vehicle, authorities stated that a boy and a girl were still missing.
Cambridgeshire Police have now confirmed the retrieval of the body of a teenage girl as investigations and search efforts for the other missing teenager from the crash on Tuesday night continue. The body of a girl, one of the teenagers missing after an incident near Wisbeach, was recovered as emergency services scoured the River Nene today.
Emergency services have been present at the scene on North Brink in Wisbech St Mary’s since approximately 8:20 pm on March 17 after reports of a car, with five occupants, entering the water. This afternoon, a specialized dive team located the body, while the search persists for the missing male following the collision. The three individuals who managed to exit the vehicle, two females and one male, were transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn with non-life-threatening injuries.
North Brink is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day, with Cambridgeshire Police urging witnesses and individuals with dashcam footage to come forward. Those with information are advised to reference incident 515 of March 17 and report through the police website. Alternatively, individuals without internet access can contact 101 for assistance.
