Teenage girl stabbed at UK school discharged from hospital

Police have provided an important update following an incident where a teenage girl was stabbed at a school in the UK. The girl, who was attacked at Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich, has been discharged from the hospital. The stabbing took place at around 10:24 am on Wednesday, resulting in the pupil sustaining minor injuries.

Following the incident, students were placed in lockdown within their classrooms. Thorpe St Andrew School confirmed that the staff remained composed during the distressing situation. The school expressed that the teenage girl is recovering well and will be welcomed back once she is ready.

A 15-year-old white British boy was apprehended near the school on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was taken to the Wymondham police investigation center for questioning.

According to a spokesperson for Thorpe St Andrew school, the injured student has been released from the hospital and is in good condition. The school praised the response of both staff and students during the lockdown, highlighting their calm and supportive actions.

Letizia Brister, a student at the school, recounted the alarm sounding continuously during her lesson, prompting safety measures to be implemented. Letizia expressed feeling safe due to the quick response of the teachers and staff. Her parents also commended the school’s protocols for ensuring the safety of all students.

Thorpe St Andrew School, which received a positive rating in its 2025 Ofsted inspection, is an 11-to-18 mixed secondary school with a sixth form. Norfolk Police confirmed that the incident is unrelated to a hate crime incident reported at the school the previous week.
