“Teen Arrested After Knife Attack at Norwich School”

A 16-year-old male has been apprehended following an incident where a teenage female was assaulted with a knife at a secondary school. Law enforcement responded to Thorpe St Andrew School on Laundry Lane, near Norwich, just before 10:30 a.m. after receiving reports of the stabbing. The injured girl was transported to a hospital with minor wounds.

The teenager has been detained on suspicion of inflicting serious harm with intent and has been transported to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for interrogation. Students disclosed to the BBC that they were confined to the school premises during a lockdown. Laundry Lane has been shut down as per police instructions.

A spokesperson for Norfolk Police stated, “Police were summoned to a school on Laundry Lane, Thorpe St Andrew at 10:24 a.m. this morning in response to reports of a teenage girl being assaulted. Emergency services, including fire and ambulance, attended the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. A 16-year-old youth has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is being questioned at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre. This incident is unrelated to a hate crime incident reported at the same school the previous week.”

Norfolk Police also noted receiving a report of a hate crime related to antisemitic chants allegedly heard during an under-15s football match between JFS (the Jews’ Free School) and Thorpe St Andrew School on Thursday. Penny Bignell, the school principal, expressed in a letter to parents that such behavior is unacceptable and an investigation has been initiated.
