Plans for a Spice Girls reunion to commemorate their 30th anniversary this year have been scrapped. Members Melanie C, Emma Bunton, Mel B, Geri Halliwell-Horner, and Victoria Beckham were expected to reunite in honor of three decades since their debut hit, Wannabe.
In a recent radio interview, Mel C dismissed the reunion rumors, stating, “No, there is no reunion. We are in constant communication. We aim to organize something – the timing is uncertain.”
Mel C expressed optimism during an interview with Australia’s KIIS Radio, saying, “I remain hopeful and hopeful that fans will witness the Spice Girls back together at some point in the future.”
Fans will be disappointed by this news as Mel C mentioned discussions about the reunion as recently as January. Last April, it was reported that Geri was negotiating with the group’s former manager, Simon Fuller, in Miami to discuss a potential deal.
Even Victoria, who missed the last reunion, hinted at a possible return, expressing interest in a Las Vegas residency at Sphere and finding it “enticing.”
The Spice Girls have not performed in the US since 2008, and Victoria has not performed with the group since the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony. In 2019, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Mel B, Emma Bunton, and Melanie C performed as a four-piece during a sold-out UK stadium tour.
With 2026 being a significant year for the band, fans hoped for a reunion of all five original members. Melanie C has continued to fuel hopes for a reunion, stating on Radio 2, “I would love that. I call on the nation to manifest that reality.”
She revealed ongoing discussions but acknowledged that not everyone is fully on board yet. “Next year is crucial for us, and we must acknowledge it in some manner,” she stated.
Regarding a full five-member reunion, she emphasized, “It would be incredible. Sometimes it feels like a responsibility to the world.”
However, it appears that any plans for a reunion, as well as a Netflix series based on the group, have now fallen through. Mel B’s absence from recent group events, including Emma’s 50th birthday celebrations and a gathering at Victoria’s home, suggests further complications.
