Social media influencers in Dubai are engaging in conflicts over differing opinions while the city faces drone attacks. Thousands of British citizens have left the UAE since the onset of the US-Iran conflict, sparking debates on safety concerns among those who remain. Allegations have emerged suggesting that some influencers are receiving payments to promote propaganda on behalf of UAE’s leader Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Furthermore, reports indicate that around 45 individuals have been arrested in Abu Dhabi for spreading misinformation and sharing footage of alleged attacks. Mitchell Armstrong, a prominent figure among those who stayed in Dubai, criticized evacuees for their actions during the conflict, claiming that the situation had not affected his lavish lifestyle.
The Ministry of Defence in the UAE reported intercepting numerous missiles and drones from Iran, but Armstrong seemed unfazed by the potential threats. He mocked those who fled in a video posted on social media, emphasizing the perceived stability in Dubai. Another influencer, ‘Soudi of Arabia,’ expressed her views on the situation, labeling those who left as ungrateful and highlighting the tranquility in Dubai despite the conflict.
As the crisis persists, a British charter jet firm has conducted numerous evacuation flights from the Middle East, aiding Brits seeking to leave the region. The ongoing conflict has resulted in a significant consular crisis, with families utilizing private jets and government-organized flights to escape the turmoil. Personal accounts from evacuees shed light on the fear and uncertainty experienced during the conflict in the UAE.
