“Snooker Enthusiast Wins £4M Coastal Home in Omaze Competition”

A devoted snooker enthusiast, Simon Mawdsley, aged 41, recently won a stunning coastal home worth £4 million in Cornwall through an Omaze competition. Upon acquiring the seven-figure property, Simon immediately decided to replace the dining table with a snooker setup. His wife, Riza, an Auditor from the Philippines, who relocated to the UK in 2019, may need some convincing about this change.

Simon, a web developer from Greater Manchester, received a substantial sum of £250,000 along with the mortgage-free house to assist his family in settling in. He humorously mentioned his plans to create a “mini Crucible” overlooking the estuary. The house also comes fully furnished with all stamp duty and legal fees covered.

Having purchased his winning ticket for a mere £15 as part of his Omaze subscription, Simon expressed his excitement about the unexpected win after participating in draws for over two years. Despite a slight hiccup where Omaze initially arrived at his old address due to an oversight in updating his location from Bury to Bolton, Simon was eventually informed of his victory.

Reflecting on the surreal moment, Simon shared his disbelief upon learning about his ownership of the luxurious Cornwall property. He and his wife were left in shock and awe, with his wife joyfully celebrating the news. The first thing they did was share the incredible news with Simon’s parents, who were initially skeptical but later overwhelmed with emotion upon realizing the truth.

With the option to reside in, rent out, or sell the property at his discretion, Simon envisions a bright future ahead. His parents even humorously offered to stay in the house when they are not there. Excited about the new possibilities, Simon plans to enjoy family holidays at the seaside property, fulfilling a long-held dream of retiring early in a picturesque coastal setting.

James Oakes, President of Omaze, expressed delight at Simon’s win and highlighted the charitable aspect of the competition, which supports the construction of the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Omaze continues to offer extraordinary prizes while raising significant funds for charitable causes, with over £100 million raised in the UK through the generosity of the Omaze Community.
