“Sky Broadband Users Urged to Switch Providers Amid Price Hike”

Sky Broadband customers are being informed that they have the option to switch providers even if they are currently under contract and dissatisfied with the upcoming price increases set to take effect in April. Sky is implementing its annual price adjustments across its services, resulting in a £3 per month raise for broadband subscribers.

As Sky is the one enforcing the price hike, customers are entitled to terminate their contracts, even if they are within the minimum term. Nevertheless, Ernest Doku, a broadband expert at Uswitch, cautioned that some Sky Broadband users have just one week remaining to avoid the mid-contract price surge that will impact their bills in April.

Doku emphasized the urgency, stating that time is running out for Sky customers to evade the £3 monthly broadband cost increase starting April 1. He explained that Sky utilizes ‘variable pricing,’ allowing them to modify rates at any time. However, according to Ofcom regulations, since this price adjustment was not agreed upon in advance, customers have the right to exit their contracts early without facing penalty charges.

In light of the situation, various alternatives are available for customers who opt not to accept Sky’s new pricing. Some providers, including Vodafone, Virgin Media, BT, EE, Plusnet, and Hyperoptic, are currently offering a price freeze guarantee until 2027 for those who switch before the April revisions. Additionally, regional providers like Trooli and YouFibre assure no mid-contract price changes, ensuring that the agreed-upon price remains constant throughout the contract period.

Customers are reminded that a £36 annual increase could significantly impact their plans, prompting them to check their Sky notifications for details. They are granted a 30-day window from the notification date to either switch to a different plan or negotiate for a better rate before being subjected to the heightened costs.

Explaining the upcoming adjustments, Sky stated that effective April 1, 2026, certain prices for Sky TV, Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Broadband & Talk will be modified in the UK. The specific alterations are outlined in the communication sent to customers via email or letter.

Sky expressed hope that customers will continue enjoying their services but acknowledged that if they are dissatisfied with the alterations to their contracts, including Sky+, Sky Q, Sky Broadband, and Talk, they have the option to cancel their subscription. Customers are advised to contact Sky within 30 days of receiving the notification to avoid early termination fees.
