“Seggiano Nougat Recall: Undeclared Allergens in Confectionery”

A food recall alert has been issued for specific batches of two confectionery products due to the presence of undeclared allergens. Consumers with allergies to soya and/or milk are advised against consuming the items.

The recall was initiated by Seggiano, an Italian food brand, which identified that two of its nougat products are impacted. The Food Standards Agency highlighted the omission of allergens from the packaging and ingredient labels, stating a potential health risk for individuals with milk or soya allergies or intolerances.

Seggiano explained that soya lecithin was not disclosed on the packaging of one batch of Seggiano Chocolate Covered Torrone. Additionally, two batches of Seggiano Pistachio and Chocolate Covered Torrone failed to mention the allergens soya lecithin and milk on the label, as reported by the Express.

The recalled products are:

– Chocolate covered Torrone 125g
– Pistachio and Chocolate Covered Torrone 125g

Customers with soya and/or milk allergies or intolerances are advised not to consume the confectionery. Seggiano has been directed to contact relevant allergy support organizations, according to the FSA.

The FSA confirmed that the company has issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers, explaining the reason for the product recall and providing instructions for customers who have purchased the affected products. Consumers who have bought the impacted Seggiano batches are encouraged to return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.
