Royal Family Unites at Commonwealth Day Celebration

The Royal Family came together for a significant event following the recent developments involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The annual Commonwealth Day celebration brought King Charles III, Queen, Prince, Princess of Wales, Princess Anne, and Duchess of Gloucester to Westminster Abbey for a special service.

Prior to the event, Charles conveyed a message to the 56 member nations, who are set to convene for their biennial Commonwealth meeting in Antigua and Barbuda this November. Notably absent were Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who are facing scrutiny due to their parents’ association with Jeffrey Epstein.

While there were suggestions that the sisters should avoid public appearances amid the ongoing scandal, their absence at Westminster Abbey was not solely linked to this reason. Traditionally, the Commonwealth Day service is attended by working royals only, and neither princess had participated in the event before.

Unlike their father, who last attended in 2019 before stepping back from public duties, Beatrice and Eugenie have been more actively involved in family gatherings like the upcoming Easter service. However, royal expert Jennie Bond advised that it might be wise for the sisters to maintain a low profile to avoid unwelcome media attention at such events.

Meanwhile, another royal couple, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, were also missing from the Commonwealth Day service for the second consecutive year. They were supporting Paralympics GB in Italy during the event, just as they had engagements in New York City and celebrated Edward’s birthday on previous occasions.

The congregation at the service included Prime Minister Keir Starmer, cabinet members, high commissioners, and young attendees. Notable speakers included Geri Halliwell-Horner, Oti Mabuse, and Selina Tusitala Marsh, with Charles emphasizing the importance of the Commonwealth in fostering dialogue and addressing global challenges like climate change.

The event showcased the Commonwealth’s potential for trade and collaboration among its youthful population, underscoring the shared responsibility to protect the environment for future generations.
