“Ricky Hatton Inquiry Begins Amid Manager’s Push for Truth”

The official inquiry into the untimely passing of Ricky Hatton is scheduled to commence today, with his manager Paul Speak advocating for transparency. The renowned boxer was discovered unresponsive at his residence in Greater Manchester on September 14, 2025.

A preliminary investigation conducted last year revealed the provisional cause of death as ‘hanging,’ according to the findings presented at the coroner’s court by Senior Coroner Alison Mutch. The final verdict is anticipated to be delivered during the formal inquiry on March 20, 2026.

Speak, who is both Hatton’s manager and a close friend, was the one who found Hatton at his Hyde home and expressed deep emotional distress. Emphasizing the importance of truth, Speak stated his desire to dispel any speculations surrounding the circumstances: “I want to reveal the truth to prevent unfounded assumptions.”

Despite the tragic incident, Speak remains adamant that Hatton did not have any suicidal intentions, citing upcoming plans for family vacations and events. He disclosed, “He had made arrangements to take his daughters to an Oasis concert, planned trips to Thailand for a boxing convention and holiday, and booked a Christmas trip to Tenerife.”

Addressing misconceptions about Hatton’s familial relationships, Speak mentioned recent interactions with his parents and the anticipation of sharing significant moments with his daughters. He reflected on Hatton’s positive outlook on life and the multitude of upcoming experiences he was eagerly looking forward to.

Recalling the moment of discovery, Speak recounted his initial shock and subsequent actions, including notifying the authorities. While the coroner’s final determination is awaited, Speak remains steadfast in his belief that Hatton’s passing was not intentional, pointing out the promising future that lay ahead for the boxer.
