“Reform Party Member Criticized for “Reform Tartan Burka” Remark”

A member of the Reform Party faced criticism for suggesting she wanted to wear a unique outfit called the “Reform tartan burka.” Sarah Pochin made this remark during a speech at the Reform Party’s Scottish Election launch, where her teleprompter malfunctioned just as she was about to speak off the cuff.

Previously, Ms. Pochin had to apologize for potentially offending people by expressing her frustration about advertisements featuring Black and Asian individuals. The Labour Party condemned her recent comments, highlighting her history of controversial statements.

During the event in Renfrewshire, Ms. Pochin humorously mentioned her frozen teleprompter and jokingly discussed the idea of wearing a “Reform tartan burka.” The Labour Party criticized her for making light-hearted remarks about Muslims and pointed out her past controversies.

Ms. Pochin had previously sparked a debate during a TalkTV phone-in by expressing her opinion that TV advertisements lacked representation of the average white family. She attributed this to what she described as a trend of inclusivity in the advertising industry, which she believed did not accurately reflect society, particularly in regions like Runcorn.
