A Northampton woman, Holly Laing, had a distressing experience when she tried to move refuse that bin men had declined to collect from her shed to her car. This incident came after previous refusals by waste collectors to empty her bins. Holly, 27, shared a shocking discovery she made while sorting through her bin bags in a TikTok video. She mentioned that due to the fortnightly waste collection schedule in her area, where general waste is collected one week and recycling the next, her household often accumulates a large amount of rubbish. As a result, she and her partner had resorted to storing excess bin bags in their shed.
During the cleanup, Holly was startled to find a rat inside one of the chewed bin bags. Despite not having a phobia of rats, she was visibly shaken by the encounter. Seeking help from her partner, Sam, she described the situation and expressed her reluctance to deal with the rodent. Sam intervened by removing the IKEA bag containing the rat from the shed, causing a commotion when the rat scurried back inside.
After a brief moment of panic, Holly and Sam managed to clear out the shed of all bin bags, ensuring no more rats were present. Holly acknowledged that their overflowing bins were likely the reason for the refuse collectors’ refusal to pick up their waste, as overfilled bins pose safety hazards during collection.
The incident sparked horror among viewers, with some sharing their own creepy encounters with rodents. One commenter recounted a terrifying experience with a mouse that had taken refuge in their home, leading to a chaotic and amusing search operation to evict the unwelcome guest.
