Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are gearing up for a significant journey abroad to Australia after more than seven years. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will head to Sydney and Melbourne in mid-April for a mix of private, business, and charitable activities. This visit follows their recent brief trip to Jordan.
As the Australian visit approaches, a public relations specialist suggests that the trip could present an opportunity for Harry to mend fences with his estranged brother, Prince William, and potentially reintegrate into royal responsibilities.
Although the exact schedule for Harry and Meghan’s Australian tour is yet to be finalized, both will participate in prominent engagements. Harry is scheduled to discuss mental health on a panel in Melbourne, while Meghan will be the centerpiece of a ‘girl’s weekend’ retreat in Sydney.
The exclusive three-day event will host 300 guests at a luxurious beachfront hotel. Meghan will deliver a speech and attend a gala dinner as the VIP guest, with tickets priced at £1,439 for attendees.
Despite the recent announcement, royal commentators and fans have already begun discussing the Sussexes’ visit, with media attention likely reaching the palace and the Royal Family.
According to PR expert Dermot McNamara, Prince William is likely aware of his brother’s upcoming trip and will be keen to monitor the developments when the Sussexes land in Australia.
Dermot suggested that if the Australian visit goes well, similar to the positive reception in Jordan, and the Sussexes demonstrate their effectiveness as ambassadors for their charitable initiatives, it could pave the way for Harry to play a role within the royal family in the future.
Given their sporadic meetings since Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties in 2020, the strained relationship between the brothers continues with Harry’s public criticisms against the royal institution.
