People participating in the People’s Postcode Lottery are expressing dissatisfaction as the ticket prices have been increased once again. The monthly subscription cost has been raised from £12.25 to £12.50, making it the third price hike by the lottery. Previously, the price was increased from £12 to £12.25 last year and from £10 to £12 in 2023.
Players have voiced their anger on TrustPilot regarding the latest price rise, with one individual questioning how much more increase is deemed acceptable. Another player expressed disappointment in the continuous price increments, stating that the game no longer feels enjoyable but rather draining each month.
In response to the complaints, People’s Postcode Lottery mentioned that the upcoming 25p increase will result in the largest prize pot ever to be won this year. They emphasized that the price adjustment aims to enhance the prize plan and maintain excitement for all players. The increased price will be effective starting from the April 2026 draw and is already visible on the lottery’s website.
Multiple prizes are offered by the People’s Postcode Lottery, including daily £1,000 wins for 20 postcodes, a shared £1 million Saturday prize among residents, and monthly prizes of £250,000 or more. It is noted that multiple individuals residing on the same street can win in this lottery.
Since its launch in 2005, the People’s Postcode Lottery has raised over £1 billion for various charities, with millions of players taking part. Notably, a recent story highlighted how a woman, Gail Wood, discovered she had won £144,000 from the People’s Postcode Lottery while recovering in a hospital bed post-surgery, a life-changing surprise for her.
The Mirror has reached out to People’s Postcode Lottery for comments on the situation and the ongoing price increments. The lottery system is based on players’ postcodes, entering them into daily, weekly, and monthly draws, offering substantial prizes to the fortunate winners.
