“Pastor Fatally Shot: Affair Leads to Tragic Outcome”

Brodes Perry, a highly regarded executive pastor at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis, Tennessee, was known for providing spiritual and moral guidance to the church community. Prior to his time in Memphis, Brodes served as a pastor at Saint Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he focused on assisting new members with assimilation into the church and offering counseling support when needed.

Brodes, aged 36, was married to Tabatha, aged 42, and the couple resided together in Collierville, Tennessee. Tragically, on April 4, 2019, reports of gunshots emanated from their apartment late in the evening, prompting an emergency response. Upon arrival, police found Brodes gravely injured and Tabatha also wounded, with a woman reloading a gun at the scene.

Law enforcement intervened by using a non-lethal firearm to subdue the woman, who was then apprehended. All three individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment. Brodes succumbed to his injuries the following day after being shot multiple times in the head and torso, while Tabatha survived a gunshot wound to her left shoulder. The female assailant did not require additional medical attention.

The tragic incident revealed that the shooter, identified as Latoshia Daniels, a 39-year-old from Arkansas, was acquainted with Brodes and Tabatha from their time in Little Rock. Daniels had sought counseling from Brodes at the church and was known to the couple. She was a social worker specializing in anger management.

Further investigation unveiled that Daniels and Brodes had engaged in an extramarital affair, which had recently ended. On the night of the shooting, Daniels arrived at Brodes’ apartment after purchasing a gun, where she confronted Tabatha. Tensions escalated when Brodes returned home, leading to the fatal shooting. Daniels was subsequently arrested, charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm, and awaited trial for several years due to court delays.

During the trial in November 2025, Daniels, now 46, was convicted of second-degree murder. She testified about the affair with Brodes, describing the relationship dynamics and emotional turmoil following its termination. Daniels expressed remorse for her actions, emphasizing that she never intended to cause harm.

Following the verdict, Daniels received a 20-year prison sentence for second-degree murder and additional time for reckless endangerment. In a statement, she apologized to Tabatha and expressed deep regret for the pain inflicted. The judge underscored that heartbreak does not justify violence, emphasizing the severity of the crime.
