In a troubling incident, a convicted paedophile nursery worker expressed to the police his preference for being in the company of children, but strictly in a professional capacity. Nathan Bennett, 30, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for being a “predatory” paedophile who committed acts of rape and sexual abuse against young children under his care at Partou’s Kings Street nursery in Bristol.
Footage from Bennett’s police interview revealed his comfort around children, albeit in a professional setting. Despite denying joining the nursery to have access to children, Bennett admitted to feeling at ease around them in a professional context.
Initially charged in August 2025, Bennett, residing in Corston, Somerset, remained in custody until his trial. He was found guilty by a jury on multiple charges, including sexual assault and rape of children under 13, leading to a 24-year prison sentence with an additional six-year extended licence period.
During sentencing, Judge William Hart labeled Bennett as an “incorrigible and dangerous paedophile” who exploited children for his own perverse desires, disregarding their innocence. The judge emphasized Bennett’s uncontrollable sexual interest in young boys and expressed concerns about his potential for future harm due to distorted thinking and malevolent intentions.
Bennett’s offenses were captured on camera, prompting police intervention on February 26, 2025. Following his arrest, child protection officers had to inform the affected families about the distressing revelations. Testimony presented in court indicated Bennett’s suspicious behavior, including prolonged interactions with children on his lap, wearing inappropriate clothing, and displaying possessiveness towards specific toddlers and their parents.
In a statement issued by law firm Leigh Day on behalf of the affected families, they condemned the breach of trust by Bennett, emphasizing the nursery’s failure to address raised concerns and complaints promptly, leading to the tragic events that unfolded.
