Alison Hammond, a host on the popular show Great British Bake Off, recently shared her views on the show’s new judge, while her colleague Paul Hollywood made a candid admission. The Great Celebrity Bake Off, in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, returns today with celebrities competing in the familiar Bake Off tent.
Before the show airs, both Alison, aged 51, and Paul, aged 60, expressed their excitement for the upcoming season where 24 celebrities will vie for the coveted title. Both personalities praised the show’s newest judge, Cherish Finden, known for her role on Bake Off: The Professionals since 2016.
Alison praised Cherish for seamlessly fitting into the show and bringing a natural vibe to the Celebrity Bake Off family. She described Cherish as calm, warm, and supportive to the panicking celebrities. In contrast, Paul commended Cherish for her honest feedback and serious approach to evaluating the contestants’ creations, highlighting her skills as one of the best pastry chefs in the country.
Cherish, who hails from Singapore and trained as a pastry chef in Britain, was noted for her straightforward feedback to the celebrities. While she displayed brutal honesty, Paul revealed that Cherish initially had some nerves about joining the show, a feeling that Alison and the team quickly dispelled.
Paul also recently made headlines for confessing his love for a particular pastry, the yum yum from Greggs. Despite his fondness for the treat, he admitted to never visiting a Greggs store, jokingly suggesting that the bakery chain had similarities to his father’s bread shops back in the 80s.
The upcoming season of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer boasts a star-studded lineup, including personalities from entertainment, reality TV, music, broadcasting, and comedy. The show, set to premiere on Channel 4 at 7.40 pm, will feature not only Paul, Alison, and Cherish but also co-host Noel Fielding alongside the celebrity contestants.
